Dallas Seminary professor Howard Hendricks once said that the chURch is like a football game: 22 men on the field desperately needing rest and forty thousand people in the stands desperately needing exercise!

Started lifting through sports in high school. Weightlifter

Never picked on, didn't get girls through muscles (money Whistling ), could really care less if I lifted weights or not. But I always want to get stronger.

My main fitness activities are outdoor / cardio related and lifting weights helped me last longer at those stuff.

Running, swimming, etc...

Sometimes I feel as if all hope is lost, but after a nice 10 mile run with my iPod playlist set to "Ambient" music, I feel so much relaxed and focused to get at my goals and finish it.

What's yours?

Yes, "Princess" has decided to take the plunge and have me train her.

We talked at length about how I will boss her around in the gym downstairs and she pointed out that she's bigger than me. At which point I noted that I'm strong than her and can hit her harder with a bigger weight.

This caused much giggling between us, as I'm sure the resulting catfight is more girl-on-girl action than most of the guys in the gym have seen for free in a long time....

We started on Wednesday, March 18 for a strength and fitness assessment. She absolutely didn't want to be measured or weighed, and said her weight had reached 200, so we didn't do any preliminary work.

We spent the next 45 minutes reviewing the exercises she's done previously in her exercise class (they don't have anyone checking individual form in that class, plus it's taught by someone who's not entirely effective in anything she does), and checking her strength.

I'm figuring a typical weekly routine for us, since she has very little time to train, will be chest + back day one, legs day two, and shoulders, bi's, tri's plus core day three...day three will be a challenge!

~~ * ~~

Friday, March 20: Chest + back

Giant sets:
bench press: 7#-10; 10-10; 12-10
OH press: 5-10; 6-10; 6-10
DB rows: 7-10; 10-10; 12-10

Supersets:
flyes: 5-10; 7-10; 7-10
rev flyes: 5-10 x 3 sets

More to come!

Hello All,

Figured it was about time, I chimed in again. Been on the board lurking for the past month or so, but haven't been too vocal.

I took 14 months off from working so that my wife and I could travel, deal with some family stuff back home, and generally just chill. We had a great time, and it was really pleasant to recharge the batteries. During this time, my workouts suffered as we were on the go pretty much all the time. As a consequence my weight fell dramatically (down 30 lbs), and my strength plummeted like the Hindenberg.

However, now - I'm back to working, and working out regularly. My wife and I have moved back to Thailand where I've taken a job which I am thoroughly enjoying. I'm training under the direction of a young Thai bodybuilder who is already competing at an international level - so his knowledge and focus on my workouts has been a great motivation. I'm picking my strength up from the depths, and the weight will come back on.

I won't be keeping a journal, as my workload is such that there just isn't time. Nonetheless, I'm around, and will log on when I can. Hope you're all doing well, and reaching your goals.

Cheers!

Dave

Been MIA for a long time. Lots of stuff has gone on with me, the job and the family.

I changed jobs at the end of last summer and went to another gym about 200 yards away. Not a big move. I still keep in touch with Kinetic but I'm not on their payroll any more. The new gym has just been completely remodeled and I had to put up with months of dust and typical construction stuff and little to no workouts.

I seem to have more projects than time and somehow managed to end up doing a radio show sent to Northern Thailand 3 days a week ( just changed to 2 days). What a lot of work. I never realized how much until I started this.

My wife's Massage business has just taken off and I had to remodel the basement inlaw suite and make it into a Massage studio. Ended up re-tiling the bathroom and redoing a lot of the walls etc.

Just before Christmas we put my mom (94) in a home and then I put my back out, AGAIN. My diet and exercise totally went for a shit. I was up to 185 and that's way too much for me. So I've just gone back on a strict diet that's "sort" of clean and I'm aiming at the third week of April to be down to 170ish with less than 10% BF. At least that's the plan. I started on Feb 25 and I am down to 181 today. I'm below the line at the moment but am expecting things to slow as I get closer to April.

Hello all,

Athena here.

Since SierraBean (officially known here at the office as Sarah) has repeatedly asked me for help, but has been unable to implement and move to action on her own, I, Buffy (officially known here at the office as Athena), have taken it upon myself to order her into training. I have scheduled the dates and times and commenced the suffering this evening at the gym downstairs in our building.

I'll keep the log for her for as long as I can keep it up!

~~ * ~~

Starting weight: 221 lbs (she'll kill me when she sees this)
Measurements to be taken tomorrow.
SierraBean is diabetic, so it's important for her to get this under control.

~~ * ~~

Tonight's workout: Chest & back + shoulders. Also core + balancing.

Circuit training: 10# dumbbells, 3 sets of 10 each
DB bench press
Flat flyes
Overhead press
DB rows
(no rest between exercises; 60 seconds rest between circuits)

Cables: seated cable rows
17.5# x 12 reps
22.5# x 10 reps
22.5# x 10 reps

Core:
Bridges: 1 minute on, 1 minute off; repeated for total of eight minutes

Balancing exercises
