Ancient Lanna Style (Buntautuk)
The northern-style, Buntautuk style, Old Medicine Hospital Style, is the style used by Lanna Thai. It is the only authentic Thai massage and the one that many other styles like Thai-Yoga massage try hard to emulate. It will relax your tensed muscles and get your vital energy (Prana) flowing.
Thai Massage combines gentle, yoga-like stretching with massage of the muscles, tendons, pressure points and energy lines, or Sen.
Thai Massage is done on a mat as opposed to a table. This allows the practitioner to use the body leverage necessary for the stretches and postures used in Thai Massage. Lanna Thai Massage technique also employs the elbows, knees and feet in addition to the hands. Pressure can be varied according to your preference. Less pressure should be used the first time, while more pressure can be applied as your body can tolerate deeper work.
Lanna Thai Massage is an integrated, sequenced procedure that normally takes 60 to 90 minutes and, as in Thailand, massages of two-hours are common. We make every effort to keep our fees reasonable so you can take advantage of extended times. However, you may schedule a massage for 1 hour, 1 1/2 hours, or 2 hours.
Foot Massage – Lanna Thai Style
Lanna Thai also offers Thai Foot Massage.
Reflexology originates from an ancient Chinese system and is based on the idea that there are nerve endings in the soles of the feet that correspond to all of the organs of the body such as the liver, kidney or spleen. A gentle and repeated massage of these pressure points is believed to stimulate and detoxify the internal organs and may improve circulation to the problem area.
Thai Foot massage is done with the fingers, hands and a small wooden dowel dipped in a specially prepared scented oil. It involves both the sides and soles of the feet as well as the energy lines (Sen) of the lower leg. You may schedule a foot massage separately or you may combine foot massage with a regular, full-body massage. Please schedule at least 90 to 120 minutes for a combined treatment.
Thai Herbal Ball
This is a traditional treatment from Thailand. The balls and herbs utilized are a traditional blend we import directly from the manufacturer in Chiang Mai, Thailand. A steamed herbal ball is pressed along the Sen lines in a series of motions to clear any blockages and stimulate blood flow and lymphatic drainage. The herbs are beneficial for their anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. They are also believed to be valuable in drawing out toxins as well as for their aroma-therapeutic value. We supply a shirt to wear as the herbs can stain clothing.
This treatment is a true gift from the Far East!
Seated Lanna Style
As many women sit at computers all day Lanna Thai has developed this massage to fit the need. This is a seated massage of the upper back, shoulders, arms, neck and head. If you sit over a computer all day or have neck and shoulder issues then this will make your aches and pains disappear. Normally from 30 to 60 minutes.
What to Wear for your appointment
In the Northern Thai massage the recipient lies on a mat on the floor. There is a standard procedure and rhythm to the massage which uses hands, feet, arms and legs.
You should wear comfortable loose fitting clothing, workout wear is fine as is t-shirt and shorts. Shoes are not requited. If you are coming from work and do not have appropriate attire with you, Lanna Thai will be more than happy to provide Thai Fisherman pants and a t-shirt for your massage. We have change and washroom facilities in our studio.
